Jorge Marquez Diaz

He has written more than twenty plays and received the premio Lope de Vega, "the Knives of paper" (2010), which speaks of "the decline of the western society of today, that foster the ambition for money and the status of the individual at any price and at the expense of values such as honesty, solidarity, friendship, and even the family and, finally, one's own life". Performed in addition to adaptations of texts of Sophocles, García de la Huerta and Lope de Vega. He has also written essay and novels, of which "The light of the thirteen dogs" (1997) was awarded first prize City of Salamanca. According to the Spanish Wesley J. Weaver III, his theatre is the tone of hyper-realism and its characters more tours are the outcasts and losers. He led the International Festival of Classical Theatre of Mérida between 2000 and 2005.
