"The child hedgehog" is based on a short story by the popular folklore of German picked up by the brothers Grimm. A farmer longs to have a child and, after trying by various means —potions and spells, including, gives birth to a child half-human, half-hedgehog. When you grow up, and feeling rejected by her father and by the people of the village, John decides to flee to the forest. How are faced by a child with the bewilderment of a peek at the world and be perceived to be different? What happens when we don't love ourselves? What happens when the others continually call into question who we are? "The child urchin" refers to social issues such as bullying and tolerance.
FERMÍN, prejubilado inesperadamente, recibe su primera tarea: hacerse cargo del Niño, que no es otro que su hijo Casimiro de 33 años y todavía sin trabajar. Su esmerada formación y alto nivel de crecimiento interior han convertido a Casimiro en un personaje autosuficiente y de exigencias disparatadas. Al tiempo que Fermín intenta conseguirle un trabajo a Casimiro, este el enseña las claves para disfrutar del ocio adecuadamente. Carmina, su madre, y Fermín deciden buscarle un padrino, pero los escasos candidatos resultan estar paradójicamente estresados por el trabajo y envidian de alguna manera la situación de Casimiro.
Un óvulo fecundado espera ser implantado en el útero de su madre. Mientras vuelve ésta de la compra, charla con el padre. La conversación es muy divertida y acaba degenerando cuando el óvulo confiesa que es una «nena» y no el hombrecito que esperaba el padre. Finalmente lo tira al W.C.
Daniel es un adulto, deficiente mental, con la mejor tradición de locos cuerdos, que expresan cuanto piensan. Áurea, su hermana, soporta su carga y atención de la casa, sin otro horizonte que envejecer padeciendo una vida desgraciada. Amargamente plantea su disconformidad, y el desafecto que con el tiempo ha ido acumulando por su hermano. A causa de ello, comparte afectos con Lupe, a quien ha traído a vivir a casa. Lupe, es fuerte de carácter, moderna, activa y desenvuelta. Ha encontrado en Áurea una compañera afín, y así, ambas han planificado una operación arriesgada que les permitirá salir del país en busca de una nueva vida. Naturalmente, en el proyecto no encaja Daniel. Miriam, ha sido contratada por Lupe como asistenta, para que cuide a Daniel cuando se lleve a cabo el viaje proyectado, con la idea de dejarlo abandonado a su suerte a partir de ese momento.
