Rather than repeating the details of my professional history (see the attached CV for a summary), I’ll introduce myself in a few general lines. I was born in Madrid in 1957. Although I don’t feel responsible for that, I do feel responsible for what I’ve done since. My original plans didn’t include theatre, but I should have foreseen something when I enrolled at the Faculty of Image Sciences, after convincing myself that my less-than-steady hands would prevent me from shining as a neurosurgeon, my secret ambition. But theatre appeared in the shape of an unexpected opportunity, and the famous venom that it distils left me hopelessly trapped: as soon as the chance arose to study it in the context of the T.E.C.
