Los cinco personajes de esta obra viven una serie de conflictos y situaciones que nos sirven para dibujar su carácter y su destino. Los protagonistas son unos viejos gatos en un caserón de campo abandonado. Allí reviven los ecos, dimensiones y emociones de otros tiempos, y la búsqueda de un futuro imposible ante un mundo nuevo que destruirá todo lo anterior.
El tiempo y el espacio se convierten en protagonistas del drama, al tomar cuerpo y dimensión escénica. Paralelamente se viven dos historias de amor, la de los personajes que ven cerrarse el horizonte de su vida, y la de los personajes que empiezan el camino, y que, al descubrir el amor, encuentran un nuevo sentido a sus vidas.
El mundo del circo aporta unas pinceladas al cuadro, como el mundo barroco y decadente de los jardines del pasado o de la música de Mozart, con la mirada filosófica –escéptica y resignada- de Marca Aurelio, y su importante obra Meditaciones.
En el Planeta de los Sentidos, gobernado por Naturaleza Con Sentido, hay dos habitantes muy especiales: Lechuguindo y Teatrininda, el cocinero y la bufona del planeta. En este planeta hay también una hechicera, llamada Tremebunda, que solo desea tener poder para adueñarse del planeta. Para ello se propone casarse con Naturaleza, por lo que un buen día se dirige a su encuentro con ese propósito. Naturaleza rechaza a Tremebunda, por lo que ésta, ofendida, pretende vengarse de ella. La venganza ocasiona que los habitantes del Planeta pierdan sus sentidos, que solo recuperarán si…
