¿Qué ocurriría si una de las llamadas ‘señoras de la limpieza’, licenciada en literatura, se topase, mientras barre el patio de butacas de un teatro, con una reunión clandestina de personajes femeninos creados por Miguel de Cervantes?
Lo más probable es que esta ‘ilustrada fregona’ del siglo XXI, las confundiera con actrices y creyera que se tratase de una compañía de teatro apurando horas nocturnas de ensayo.
El conflicto surge cuando esas figuras escénicas que repiten pasajes cervantinos, parecen, realmente, no saber nada sobre su autor... sobre ellas mismas. Es por esto que Coni, la limpiadora del siglo XXI, decide compartir con las componentes del disparatado grupo una lección vital: lo significativa que es la visión de las MUJERES EN (la vida y obra de) CERVANTES.

Miguel, un joven profesor de Lengua, que quiere ser escritor, vive alegremente en Madrid y tiene relaciones sexuales con Vanesa, cuando de repente mpieza a confundir las palabras, mezclando unas con otras, trastocando las formas verbales, etc. De resultas, le echan del colegio donde da clase y se ve obligado a trasladarse al pueblo de su amiga Vanesa, que le ha encontrado otro empleo en la emisora de radio local. Allí su vida cambia de arriba abajo: se encuentra expuesto a la curiosidad y los chismorreos de los vecinos y de la patrona de su pensión. También Vanesa, en casa de sus padres, pierde su gloriosa libertad sexual y se convierte en una mojigata con ansias de casarse...
"Naces, consumes, mueres" es un espectáculo que combina la mejor tradición teatral de nuestro repertorio con la creación de artistas contemporáneos al servicio de una propuesta que busca revisitar el teatro didáctico de Calderón desde una perspectiva absolutamente contemporánea.
Sobre un escenario una mujer elegante, sofisticada y bastante cursi, reivindica su derecho a hablar después de haber estado escuchando, supuestamente, varios monólogos en un teatro, entre ellos el de una muy amiga suya. Poco a poco se van percibiendo sus verdaderos sentimientos ocultos. Se confiesa a sí misma – y al público - los devaneos sexuales que ha mantenido desde la niñez con dicha joven. Pero la amiga tiene otra diferente percepción de los hecho. Pero a medida que la mujer se va quitando capas de sofisticación, cursilería y trabas sociales, en su tú a tú con la sala, irá reconociendo sus verdaderos sentimientos.
