Diálogos distintos. Vidas rotas. El humor se torna en tragedia. Ambiente desgarrado. Historia de amor y odio de cada matrimonio. Ternura, venganza. El tanatorio es un jardín en primavera con trino de pájaros. El acoso de la otra, en un tiempo anterior, equilibra el argumento. Destrucción del amor.
Es un soliloquio que narra una música ya oída demasiadas veces y que, amparada en la soledad de los silencios, identifica miserias aún primitivas de sociedades poco solidarias.

Una mujer aparece en un lugar extraño y frío donde un coro risueño le insinúa que está muerta. Descubre que ha perdido la vida en un accidente, en el que también ha muerto su marido, su único amor. Poco a poco le hacen ver que su vida fue muy diferente de lo que ella pensó. Y que sus días felices han sido tan engañosos y efímeros como el verano de septiembre. Su marido, custodiado por un personaje mefistofélico aguarda muy cerca para decirle su verdad por fin. Ella tendrá que elegir la muerte o una nueva oportunidad de vivir. A pesar de su tono tragicómico y de la mitología cristiana que la sustenta, la presencia de un coro que pontifica y su tono declamatorio y solemne acercan esta obra a la concepción fatalista de las antiguas tragedias griegas.
