The siege of Leningrad

The title of this work refers to the concerns, the ideological and social a precise time: the first franco. At the same time shows the admiration of Sinisterra by Brecht, to paraphrase the well-known work of German playwright of "Terror and misery in the Third Reich". All the pieces that make up "the Terror and misery in the first francoism" are framed in those years. Sinisterra account of the daily lives of those who survived the immediate conscuencias of the Civil War: the loss of lives, the exile, the collapse of purchasing power, the hunger, the jail, the debugging of the national teachers, food rationing, the black market, corruption, etc., and also reminds us of the supporters of the regime. Nine pieces that through the pain, the fear, bitterness and sadness, not exempt of humor at times, constitute our recent historical memory and are a part of our biography emotional.

The work focuses on the misadventures of Rivers and Solano counties, two wretched actors, members of a ñaque (theatre company made up of only two actors) in the Spain of the SEVENTEENTH century, which, through witty dialogues, walking his poverty and his talent on the roads of Castile.

Carmela and Paulino are two actors of the magazine that in the middle of the Spanish Civil War, acting in republican Spain. Because of an error, the lines cross and they are made prisoners by the rebels. They order them to represent a show for his troops, and that includes a parody against the Republic, to make a mockery of the brigades international that are going to be shot. Carmela, indignant, subverts espontáneamenta this parody, despite the desperate attempts of the hammered Pauline, and ends up being shot as well. Pauline is left alone and have no consolation that get drunk and to receive visits from the spirit of Carmela. The work is constructed as a large flash backs from the memories of Paulino and Carmela dead, and includes numerous references to both political and the popular theatre of the time.
