"La gallina ciega" es una obra teatral inspirada en la figura y el testimonio de Max Aub, quien tras treinta años de exilio regresa a la España franquista en 1969. La obra dramatiza el desencanto y la extrañeza de Aub al reencontrarse con un país irreconocible, marcado por el olvido, la censura y la amnesia colectiva. A través de la mirada crítica del escritor exiliado, Monleón reflexiona sobre la memoria, la identidad y la imposibilidad de regresar realmente al pasado, utilizando la experiencia real de Aub como eje central de la trama. A través de diálogos cargados de simbolismo y reflexión, la obra aborda la incomunicación generacional, el olvido colectivo y la dificultad de reconciliar el pasado con el presente. "La gallina ciega" es una reflexión sobre la identidad, la memoria y las heridas no cerradas de la historia reciente de España, utilizando el regreso del exiliado como metáfora de la búsqueda de sentido en una sociedad que ha optado por el olvido.
